The Challenger 3 team has finished the Rolex Fastnet race, we hear from Skipper Ricky on-board…
The Finish
Challenger 3 finished the Fastnet Race shortly after 2pm BST (3pm French Time) after a rip roaring ride back from the Fastnet Rock. Mostly averaged 11+ knots with a Yankee 1 Staysail – sometimes up sometimes down, and mainsail with an occasional reef. Polled out Yankee after the Scilly Isles.
More wildlife spotted – pilot whales, shark fin, lots of dolphins and gannets.
We will be relocating from the holding pontoon we are on, to the main harbour at 1704 French Time and then the partying can begin. At the moment it is a bit of recovery and tidy up.
Well done team. Great racing in difficult conditions.
Time for a beer?
Challenger 3 has relocated to the main fishing dock beyond the swinging bridge. All secure behind Challenger 2.
French welcome of pouring rain not welcoming. Maybe their beer is better…
