First Class Sailing is one of the UK’s leading sailing schools, offering the range of RYA courses, including Day Skipper practical and theory. A common question we get asked is just how long the RYA Day Skipper qualification is valid for.
Your Day Skipper qualification is valid forever. There is no expiry date on it. However, it’s important to understand that after you pass the RYA Day Skipper Practical and Theory qualifications, it’s only a reflection of your competence at the time you were assessed. We recommend that you refresh your skills and knowledge periodically to ensure that you remain a competent and safe skipper.
If you would like to learn with First Class Sailing, please explore all of our RYA courses here, and more specifically check the prices and forthcoming dates for the Day Skipper courses we run from our Southampton HQ.
It is designed for aspiring skippers who already have some yachting experience including basic navigation and sailing skills. The RYA Day Skipper Practical qualification is the sailing certificate that most charter companies, in places like the Mediterranean, require you to have before chartering a sailing yacht.
