RYA Day Skipper Theory Online with Zoom – Your Last Chance to Sign-Up

The RYA have recently announced that all sailing schools are to stop doing Zoom and online courses, and to return to just offering face to face teaching. This means that First Class Sailing will soon stop new sign-ups to our RYA Day Skipper Theory online course, so you only have a few weeks in which to take advantage of our last ever Zoom sessions.

Our last ever RYA Day Skipper theory online

The last date we have available will start on Wednesday 6 September. If you want sign-up to what so many people believe to be the best online Day Skipper Theory course, please click here.

Each weekly session runs on a Wednesday evening, starting at 1800 through until 2100, and there are 8 sessions in total, followed by one complete weekend.

All materials are included, except for a set of plotters and dividers (many people have their own), and you will be sent these before the course starts.

Online Day Skipper Theory course reviews

We consistently rank as one of the best sailing schools in the UK for positive online reviews. Simply search for First Class Sailing on Google and you can see for yourself. Here’s a recent review we received for our RYA online Day Skipper Theory course.

“Getting Day Skipper qualification with First Class Sailing was an enjoyable challenge. I did both theory and practical courses. Theory via Zoom was a perfect choice for me for a number of reasons: a week between lessons allows enough time for review and homework; ability to ask questions immediately during the lessons. Thank you, Johnny for your patience with me; more focus on important areas; informal suggestions on how to memorise various concepts. And the most important, there was a strong connection between theory and practice later. Pretty much all the information and obtained skills were used. I do recommend the company and would use them in future for both learning and sailing.”

How our online and Zoom based RYA Day Skipper Theory works

Our Zoom course is very popular and really is not that different to being in a class with fellow students but instead from the comfort of your own home using the web-based conferencing software.

You can see, interact with, and ask questions of the instructor, see your fellow students, see the whiteboard and any slides the instructor shows.

Once you have completed and passed the theory, it should ideally be followed up by a Day Skipper practical course. On completion of the practical course, you will be qualified to charter and skipper a yacht.

Depending on how much sailing you have previously done you may need to take a practical Competent Crew course before taking the Day Skipper Practical Course. These ‘on the water courses’ are held from Southampton.
